Mrs O’Shea Warman had a wonderful final day. She spent time with every class doing a wide range of fun activities. The leaving assembly was amazing. Mrs O’Shea Warman would like to thank the whole community for your incredibly generous donations. The funds were used to produce and professionally frame some amazing artwork which was produced by the children in collaboration with ex-teacher and school friend, Mrs Fiona Gibbins. The remainder of the money was given to Mrs O’Shea Warman to spend as she wishes. We all wish her well and extend our heartfelt thanks for her amazing leadership and for the care and love she has shown to the children, staff and the whole Whitchurch community. She will be missed.

Poetic success – June 2020

During the lockdown, one of our Year 6 pupils has been writing poetry. Jamie sent one of his pieces into a competition. We are delighted to announce that the poem won second prize. Here is Jamie’s amazing poem.

Deer leaps and bounds through the broad forest

A brown flash in the light, his shadow never seen.

          This brown-blur, forest brave-heart

          Swift-footed, crowned with antlers.

Each day when sun comes up, he forages at forests edge,

then he’s off, back into the shadowed depths

of mighty Oaks, graceful Ash and grey barked Hazel

This place where he lives, a  wonderous land.

Entering the forest is easy,

but navigating the labyrinth of secret trails is a challenge.

Only deer and his fellow creatures

can easily wander the hidden depths.

Rays of light start to fade as nightfall creeps upon the land

Deer retreats to shelter and drops to sleep

But not for long, for soon sun shall rise again

Back up into the beautiful blue abyss.

The aim of Safer Internet Day is to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. This year in the UK, Safer Internet Day will focus on how consent works in an online context and will ask young people to explore how they ask, give, and receive consent online. This could be in their friendships or relationships, how they take and share images and videos or how they manage their privacy and data.

You can read more about Safer Internet Day at the official website: https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/
