Welcome to our archived pupils page for 2016 – 2017 academic year.

Thursday 6th July

That now concludes the events for the school year with us as a school competing in nearly 50 events this year ranging from Local schools competitions all the way up to Devon standard. A Huge well done to everyone who was represented the school this year from Foundation stage all the way up too Year 6 . Also a massive thank you to staff and too parents who have helped support, encourage and participate in any of the events this year.

Well Done to our year 5+6 Cricket team winning yesterday at the local schools competition beating Tavistock with an impressive score of 399 runs – 257.

 

Whitty Kids Performance of Bugsy Malone

Whitty Kids were AMAZING on Saturday when they performed the wonderful Bugsy Malone at Tavistock College. They wowed the audience with their confidence, acting ability and their altogether professionalism. A fantastic performance from fabulous children. A big thank you to all who helped particularly the parents, all the Whitty adults for their consistent hard work, Jacob Earley who made our wonderful video of the Cagey Joe scene, ABC boxing gym for allowing us to film Cagey Joe’s scene and most of all to Eva Pearson and Richard Tucker from Tavistock College without whom, the production, the amazing scenery and special effects would not have happened. Well done Whitty Kids you are all super stars.

Tuesday 27th June

16 of our girls from years 3-5 participated in a girls football festival ran by OCRA, the idea of this festival was to practice and improve on football skills and to play small competitive games.

Monday 12th June
Well done to our year 5 and 6 rounders team who competed in the West Devon finals hosted at Tavistock College, they came second overall losing in the final to Okehampton . This is the highest position we have ever came in this event. Congratulations.

Wednesday 27th May

Well Done to our year 5 and 6 cricket team who competed in the west Devon finals hosted at Okehampton , we placed a very impressive 4th out of 32 teams.

 

Tuesday 23rd May Sainsbury’s school games day (Sports Day)

Our yearly Sainsbury’s school games (sports day) took part on Tuesday with each house doing a lap of the pitch for the opening ceremony including the singing and performing of the house song. Each year group as well as each house colour showed a great determination and encouragement for each of the events. This years winners were Purple house congratulations. This year we introduced a new trophy which was the fair play trophy this was awarded to orange house for encouragement and having a great team ethos. Well done. A very big thankyou for all the parents that helped score and that helped out.

 

 

Tuesday 9th May

A massive well done to our year 4 cricket team who took part in the Meldon Cup hosted at Chagford cricket club. They played 6 games during the day winning 5 and losing in the finals to Chagford A team . They picked up second place medals, a huge improvement from last year where we placed 9th. Well Done!

 

Thursday 4th May
We took our girls football team to compete in the Bettison trophy hosted at Plymstock school this was the first time the these girls had played together, they were put into a challenging group against Montpellier and Hyde park, they lost 3-0 and 2-0. The girls showed great determination and played brilliantly. Well Done.

Thursday 27th April

We took 4 children to then Devon spring ability games at Plymouth life centre where we took part in archery. Ben, Rosie, Isaac and Elizabeth scored an impressive 70 points between them placing them 1st overall out of 12 teams. A huge congratulations!


Tuesday 25th April
Big well done to our year 3 and 4 tag rugby team who competed in the local schools tag rugby competition, they won the tournament scoring an impressive 18 try’s in 6 games.

Thursday 30th March
Well done to our swimming team who took part in the swimming gala, they won a trophy for team spirit and good attitude.

Wednesday 29th march 2017

Well done to our football team today who won the west Devon football finals, beating okehampton in the final 3-1, the school team are now holding a record of 20 wins 3 draws and 0 losses with only 1 goal being conceded this season. Good luck to them in the Bettison trophy finals and the southwest finals.

Congratulations to Miss Pollark who will become Mrs Lane over the Easter holidays.

 

 

Well done to everyone who took part in Whitchurch has talent, congratulations to all our winners and runner up.

 

 

 

 

Congratulations to our cycle cross team who represented West Devon in the Devon sainsburys school games held in haldon forest in Exeter this was a first for the school, all the team did remarkably well in the wet and windy conditions alongside a tricky course placing an impressive 7th out of 14 teams. Well done to Emma who received a medal for perseverance.

Monday 13th march 2017
Congratulations to our cross country team who took part in the Alford Cup, well done to our girls team who finished 1st overall and to our boys team 2nd overall. Meaning we were the overall winners. Also a huge well done to Emma and William for coming first in their races.

Friday 10th march 2017
Well done to our under 10’s girls team who played in the west devon finals match against Horrabridge Primary school, all the girls showed a great spirit and maintained a positive attitude throughout.

 

Wednesday 8th march 2017
Congratulations to our football team who played in the Saints south west cup playing against 11 teams in Devon they won the tournament without conceding a goal they now go through to the Southwest finals!

Wednesday 1st march 2017
Well done to our year 3+4 cross country team who represented west Devon at the Devon finals in Torbay this is now our 3rd consecutive year attending this event, they placed an impressive 9th out of 15 teams.

Thursday 15th December 2016

Year 4&5 members of the choir went to Crelake Nursing Home today to sing to the elderly residents there. The residents really enjoyed it.

Circle of Light

The children walked into a special assembly today with candles which then formed a “Circle of Light” – the choir performed and our valued volunteers were invited to watch. They were then offered mince pies, made and served by our Year 4 pupils.

Wednesday 7th December 2016

Our cross country club had its annual Santa Run. All the children dressed up with hats or costumes and we ran 3 + miles over the Moors plus had time for games at the pimple. The children have all worked really hard at their running this term.santa-run

 

 

 

 

 

16th November – Devon Winter Games

Mr Jones took three boys to the Devon Winter Games at Barnstaple – Josh, Joe and Sam. They all competed in the Archery competition.

15th November – Cyclo cross competition

72 local children took part in the Cyclo Cross Competition at Milton Abbot. Our team of Dan, Josh, Ben, Henry, Orla, Emma, Elsie and Charlie came 1st overall. Well done a great team effort.

14th November – Year 1 and 2 cross country competition

We took 16 children to the first Year 1&2 cross country competition at Tavistock Primary School. There were four local schools taking part. Congratulations to all our runners but especially to Holly 2nd, Saba 3rd in Year 1 girls. Sam 1st, Conor 2nd and Luka 3rd – Year 1 boys. Florence 2nd Year 2 girls and Mathew 3rd Year 2 boys.

19th October – cross country competition at Okehampton

Congratulations to our cross country teams – both the boys team and the girls team won the competition meaning we were overall winners. Congratulations to William for 1st place and Rory for 2nd in the boys and to Emma for 1st place in the girls.

Large schools football tournament – 4th October

We sent two teams to the football tournament at Crowndale yesterday. Our A team won the competition and go onto the next round – the West Devon Finals.

Conker Competition

Today we held our annual conker competition. The children had a lot of fun!

Cyclo X Event – Saturday 24th September

In conjunction with Tavistock Wheelers and Go Ride, Whitchurch Primary School hosted the first Cyclo x event of the Year. Lots of children from Whitchurch took part. This was part one of series of 3 events.
